Signature file on Internet Explorer

I asked this a few weeks ago and got no response.  And since I still haven't
figured it out, I thought I would try again.

I am using Microsoft Internet Mail and News for Macintosh 3.0c (405)  on a
Mac Performa.

I choose Messages under Mail and News in the Preferences file.
In the Signature box I set it to automatically add my signature to messages.
And I type my signature in the box.
And I click okay.

But when I send a message the signature doesn't show up.  When I go back
into Messages under Mail and News in the Preferences file, the signature has
disappeared.

Any ideas, anyone?  I am about to go back to Eudora.
