We decided that we should a special shelf in each library to store the discarded books. Then, when a child who is on the long overdue list comes in to borrow a book, we will send him/her to the discarded book shelf. I'm confused about this one -- why would the student want a discarded book from this shelf? One would assume the condition was terrible or the material was out-of-date or whatever.. Do they really take one of these out?
