Dear Group,
Below is the hit of replies I received for my query regarding library
mission statements.  Hope it is as useful to you as it was to me.

Siskiyou County Supt. of Schools Instructional Materials Center
The intended goal of the Instructional Materials Center (Library and
Audio Visual) is to provide the highest levels of service not only to
educators, but to students as well.  Service will be in the forms of,
but not limited to, collection development, inservicing as
needed/requested, information access and delivery, providing
state-of-the-art technology and resources, leadership and consulting
assistance.  The IMC supports the precepts presented in the American
Library Association's "Information Power: Guidelines for School Library
Media Centers".


Bellingham, Washington Public Schools
The Library Media Program equips users with diverse information
resources and skills to access, process and apply information to
problems and decisions, thereby helping them to make meaning of a
rapidly changing world.


Del Norte County Schools
The Del Norte County Unified School District Library/Media Centers are
dedicated to providing relevant state-of-the-art technology and
resources which meet the needs of the school community.  As a vital part
of the total educational program, the LMC personnel support a safe and
nurturing environment that encourages appropriate and creative use of
the centers, with equal access to all.  By demonstrating leadership in
providing "the best of the new" through automation, integration,
expansion and upgrading, the centers will provide intellectual and
physical access to materials in
all formats.
The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students
acquire a lifelong interest in reading, develop an appreciation of
literature, and become effective users of ideas and information.
It was patterned after the Information Power statement.

TCPS is using "Creating Generations of Lifelong Learners"  It sort
of goes with the county mission statement, "Learn, Grow and Succeed"
