Telephone Solicitation

Hello everyone-

I've been reading this thread with interest. I have a telephone
solicitation story about NOT being called. In my school the office staff
will tell telemarketers to call after classes end. I usually can fend
off these solicitors but once my guard was down and I agreed to
"preview" a box of books from American Library in Minneapolis. The books
were a good selection and I did keep some. The following Fall I
responded to the same pitch and kept most of the books.

Early this year a large box of what appeared to be preview books arrived
UNSOLICITED from American Library. Since I didn't order them and had no
money left to purchase them,I called the vendor. They apologized and
gave me a UPS return number. 2 weeks later UPS picked up the books and I
forgot the incident. About 1 month later I received a strongly worded
letter from the vendor demanding their books back. They claim that UPS
had not returned them. You can imagine my anger at having to call to
explain why the books that I did not order had not reached them. When I
did call they said that they had indeed received the books.

The morals of this tale:
1.NO MORE PREVIEWS!!!
2.I will tell this tale to anyone calling about previews
