I agree with Constance.  Sometimes, with older books that are great
stories with less attractive illustrations, it takes a reading outloud
and students start checking them out.
I would not discard books that you know to be classics.  I am sure that
you have a lot
of books that can go that don't fall into that category.  Give them
another try and really make an effort to "sell" them to teachers and
