In my recent HIT about pig activities, I messed up one of my favorite
suggestions, so let me try again:

********************************
In my recent classroom life, we had a reading theme in third grade that
focused on fractured fairy tales, using the 3 little pig variants. One of
the really fun activities we added was making up pig jokes.

Generally, here's the method to use with the class. . ..

Think up a bunch of pig type words: pig, oink, ham, bacon, hog, etc.

What parts of a pig word will grow into another word by taking off the
first letter, or shortening the word, changing /sounds like a pig word?
     h am ambulance
     pig picasso pigcasso
     oink orchestra oinkestra

Then, write a joke to have that word as the answer.
How do pigs get to the hospital quickly ? hambulance
What hog was known for his great art work? Pigcasso
. How is classical pig music made? By an oinkestra!

Kids really get into it, and LOVE making their own joke book (pig shaped,
of course!)
