Hi, all, Our circulation has doubled or possibly tripled over last year's. In the morning, it's especially rough and we have had to open two of our search stations as additional circulation stations to keep up with the rush. Only one of the three stations is equipped with a barcode scanner. The other two stations must key in patron and title barcodes. This is slow and the errors is high. I am considering purchasing another scanner to use during peak periods on one of these stations. It would be removed later in the morning. The Follett scanners cost $1,300+ which we simply can't afford. I have seen other barcode scanners advertised at $500 or less. Is it possible/permissible to use a scanner other than a Follett scanner with the Follett system? I have heard that frequent attaching and detaching may affect the performance of a scanner. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA Frances C.
