Am I the only one willing to admit I loooooved the Little Golden Books? From *The Poky Little Puppy* all the way to (my all-time fave) *The Golden Egg Book*, these were my never-fail cheer-me-ups. My mother always kept a "sick box" filled with treasures reserved for cheering up home-in-bed kids. In that box (now being haggled over by my own (grown) children) was the special "sick blanket" (hand-crocheted by a favorite aunt from all kinds of yarn ends), the "sick puzzle" (wooden cubes, each side a different color/colors, for creating all kinds of new patterns), the table bell (for summoning motherly attention), and special copies of dearly-loved books. Over the years some of the titles changed (yeah, for a while the Oz books were in there), but the Golden Books were always a staple. Alice H.
