Consider these as incentives:
-- all costs of attending a professional development conference are
tax-deductible.
-- an AASL conference is the most concentrated form of continuing ed you're
likely to find for your own professional education:  workshops on all topics,
networking with peers from all over, opportunity to examine firsthand the
"tools" (books, supplies, software, etc.) that you need to do your job.
-- a conference designed just for you!  (How many of us have been to
conferences or inservices that are obviously targeted at teachers, not
librarians?)
-- it's FUN!!!!   (and it's only every 2 years, so you can save up for it)
