Hi! I am a brand-new library media specialist in a K-12 school. I will be conducting library lessons for the K-6 classes, and am interested in doing fiction read-alouds of chapter books for the upper elementary grades. I'm wondering if this is feasible since I will be meeting with each class just once a week. At that rate, getting through one book would take an awfully long time. My question is whether anyone has tried this, and if it was successful or not. I've had two ideas about it- perhaps the classroom teachers would take turns reading the book, so that some of it is read in library and some of it in the classroom. Or maybe a separate book discussion group in the library is the way to go... Also any good suggestions about books to start with? I'm thinking of Harry Potter, of course, but would like other titles, too. Thanks very much.
