I have been planning to start at least some circulation to students of videos in our school library. While I saw in the HIT that many libraries do support this and some of you have quite large collections, I saw no mention of the logistics of circulation. Do you keep the videos themselves on the shelves? Or give out lists? Or keep only the covers out as many video stores do, and keep the video itself in a secure area? Also, how long a circulation period do you permit? What do you do about lost and damaged videos? Videos do wear out, so how do you decide if it was unnecessary damage or old age? Is rewinding really all that big an issue?
