HIT - adult books for middel school

A few weeks ago I asked for ideas for a book club for middle school
students who are really good readers.  Unfortunately, I received more
requests for a HIT than suggestions.  The authors suggested were:  John
Grisham, Tolkein, Brian Jacques (Redwall series), Agatha Christie and
Tony Hillerman.
Thanks to everyone who sent me ideas - I had meant to thank each of you
"personally" buy I accidentally deleted one or two e-mails....
