Dear colleagues, I know this isn't very germane to our discussions, but I am getting desperate for help! In addition to the media center, I am in charge of the bookstore (as well as other things too numerous to mention!) and we have run into a snag. Does anyone know where to find cheap (or free!) English textbooks. Long story short, the English department changed curriculum, and for one year (the transition!) we are teaching American Literature to two classes. We have enough books for the sophomores, but need about 30-40 more for the juniors. I am looking for the Prentice Hall series "The American Experience", 1991 copyright, with ISBN number 0136917186. My last resort is to buy them from Follett, but we can't afford to pay so much money ($900-$1200) for a single year's problem. I would be really happy even just to get them on loan for the year. If you know of anyone who has them sitting around in a warehouse, or a cheap place to call, please let me know. I've already tried some surrounding schools here in Chicago, as well as our state relocation program with no luck. Please reply to me privately. Thanks a million!
