Kindergarten and 1st grade activities

It's that time of year again.  I need to know some beginning-of-year
activities for kindergarten and first grade students.  One of my
kindergarten teachers does not like for me to use videos, even as a teaching
tool and wants the students to have something to bring back to the
classroom.  Since the kindergarten classes are very large, I need something
that will take a minimum of time to pass out, get materials out, etc.

Also, if you know of any web sites that provide color sheets or other
activities, please let me know.
