Dear Friends,

I have deleted the original post but I think the original question asked in
what other profession un-certificated people are hired to do a job that in
most situations require a certificate.

Rather than bust on those who have a job without the certificate, I think we
as a group should be upset with those districts who either don't require the
certificate for their librarians, or bend the rules so that they can hire
people without the certificates.

Hospitals don't hire doctors without a certificate, and bus companies don't
hire drivers without licenses, and schools don't hire principals or
classroom teachers who don't have certificates.
Why are parents and board members upset when someone without a library
degree is hired??
Is it because they don't realize all that goes into running a library?
Do the schools in your town (where you live, not where you work...)
have "real" librarians?
