Hello all - Here is the hit of math videos and sources I have heard about from you, my listserv freinds.BC Learning Conneciton is a good source of inexpensive videos. Check out www.bclc.bc.ca PBS has published a a series called "Futures" which shows math in the real world in an upbeat sort of way. Someone else wrote that PBS has a series called Eddie Files which can be purchased from PBS for one year and then must be erased. Another writes to try Windows on Math by Optical Data. It is a complete program on LD. Yet another says to look at a 7 volume set called Life By The Numbers which is a PBS show. Teacher's Video Company was suggested. Another idea is to go to http://www.acemath.com This site has videos on math and reading. ESPN2 has an ongoing program called SportsFigures described as "designed for high school students, this series features professional athletes who help demonstrate math and physics concepts through sports situations." ESPN2 will provide support materials for the programs and you can videotape them when they air (3o min per program) commercial free with free-use copyright stipulations. Look in Cable in the Classroom to find more. -- Beverly A.
