My thanks to the 6 respondents in my search for a book title for a parent in which two characters are stranded on an island. Interestingly, there were 5 different answers, but in showing them to the parent this afternoon, she felt sure that _Dangerous Island_ is the one she remembers. She was thrilled and quite impressed that after her years of thinking about this she had something concrete to work with. My thanks to you all! Below are the 6 responses for those who requested a hit. 1. Did a search at Addall Used and Out of Print Books: http://www.addall.com/Used/index.html Came up with the following: Dangerous Island Helen Mather-Smith Mindlin Dodd Mead/Weekly Reader 1956 Sounded like a children's book since Weekly Reader was the publisher. There were 2 places that you can get the book, one was priced at 20.00, the other at 6.00. 2. I think it's Two on an Island by Bradbury. 3. This stirs the dust in the memory, but not enough to pull out the full title. As I recall, the words Black Rock are somewhere in the title. (Not the movie Bad Day At Black Rock, though.) The two children are in some danger from a bad guy on the island. Some- thing else about lobster poaching also comes to mind. I vividly recall an illustration of the boy and girl hiding under their overturned rowboat. 4.In Marguerite Henry's original "Misty of Chincoteague" story, there's a storm in which the boy and girl of the story are trapped. Maybe this is the story your parent is looking for? 5.I'm reasonably certain the title is Nightmare Island. I read this book about eight years ago when I was doing the coursework for my MLIS. 6.It sounds very similiar to _Abel's Island_. But, that is a story of a lone mouse, not friends. That is until the toad comes along towards the end of the book.
