Bob's message brings up some good points. That when students use the Internet for research they may cite sources that have little or no credibility. My problem with the ideas about selecting every website is that there wouldn't be enough hours in the day for me to even begin to select websites for student projects. At the present time I have students researching contagious diseases, the Constitutional Convention, the founding fathers and mothers, genetic diseases, plants, animals, religions, and about150 individual topics chosen by students for speeches and research projects. What I have done is given the teachers and students a checklist to use to evaluate websites. It then becomes the students responsibility to evaluate the website. Students can be taught what to look for to determine which websites are reliable.
