It is my humble opinion that the "AV dealers" just tell us what we want to
hear and that the experts are often the end users, the people that have to
make the stuff actually work.

This is not to say that some dealers are not honest and helpful, but they
are often not the experts.

When looking into buying new overheads I certainly appreciated what I
learned from the LM_NET archives and I already know that the dealers
would/could not have given me much of the information.

Just my humble thoughts.

Subject: End users are not experts!

Dear Media Specialists,
From time to time on LM-NET I see requests for information about AV
equipment. All of this information seems to be very sincere and some is
interesting, however I always wonder how this can be useful. Since all
libraries are different and every situation in which various AV products
can be used is different, the end user can't possibly know what to
recommend to the person posing the question.
The only ones who could and should assist in any purchasing
situation would be AV dealers. They are the experts, not us end users.
They know the questions to ask about lighting, accoustics, off-viewing
angles, etc. Please all of you out there who are contemplating a
purchasing decision of this type, use the experts. Rely on people who
know what they are talking about.
Sincerely,
Pam
