Hello everyone... I'm a little confused by Pam's comments about end users not being experts... When I ask questions of the listserv participants, I'm not necessarily trying to get an expert opinion (although there are some very knowledgeable individuals on this listserv who would fit the "expert" descriptive category), but rather, a practical solution to a problem or some views of individuals who own or have used a piece of equipment extensively in a library-based environment ... The manufacturing representatives will always give the most glowing recommendations for their own equipment. I think inquiring of the end-users is an excellent beginning to solving most problems and cannot be beaten for honest, objective, and librarian-based viewpoints... Isn't that why this listserv was organized? Aloha y'all ... Earl J. Just an old Maui boy with a poor sense of direction ...
