Elem: Need book suggestion

Dear LM_Netters,
        A first grade teacher wonders if we could think of an easy chapter
book about a gir in/from India for one of her students to read.  I have
nothing in my library and would appreciate any suggestions of ones to pass
along to her.  TIA
