new media specialist

I've noticed a lot of inquiries dealing with individuals who are or will
be new media specialists next year.  I, too, fit into that category.  I
will be a new media specialist in a high school next year and am nervouse
about this.  One cause for nervousness is because I have actually been
mistaken for one of the students!  I'm hoping that some other high school
media specialists can give me ANY advice that might help me get through my
first year as a high school media specialist, including working with older
students, as well as working with another media specialist, which is
typically the situation in high schools.  Any feedback will be
appreciated!
