Hello All, As I watched TV the other day, I was appalled by the Pepsi One commercial. Have any of you seen it?? This is my take on what I saw. A young lady appeared to be hiding in the stacks at the library. A young man scares her and then asks her to taste the Pepsi One. She does--says it's good, or something like that. The commercial then ends with the announcer saying that Pepsi One is now available at the fountain. At the same time, this same young man has his mouth open and drinking the Pepsi as if he was at a water fountain. I was thoroughly disgusted. Is it me? Is it now appropriate to say to the public that it's o.k. (1)to hide in the stacks, (2)have food in the library, (3)play games in the library, (4)drink from the soda fountain as if it is a water fountain????? IMHO, this commercial has underminded all rules that librarians have tried to instill in children. Am I reading too much into this? If I am, then, it must be time for me to retire. What's your take???
