These are the responses I got about the reconsideration form. I
apologize for taking so long. I have lurked out here, but never sent a
query, etc. and the first try didn't fly. Thanks for your help!

The media specialists and curriculum director in our district
(all 4 of us) spent several weeks this fall revising our K-12 board
selection policy. I notice from your address that you're a public
library rather than private, so some of the information on the following
site won't be needed. We used the model from the Iowa Educational Media
Assn. as our starting point. It also includes sample forms. We looked
at our current policy and procedures and added to, deleted from, and
blended them with the model. It's available online at
http://www.iema-ia.org/IEMA115.html

You might want to consider changing the form from
reconsideration of library "material" to "resources." I did this for
our school district and public library (I am the school rep on the
public library board) several years ago. That way you cover electronic
resources and the Internet.

The best one I've ever seen is the one you can get from ALA...call their
800 number.

Do you know about the discussion list PUBLIB? It is the discussion
list for public libraries that functions in much the same way that
lm_net does for school librarians. You can get the subscription
information and check the archives at http://sunsite.berkeley. edu .

Our school nurse wants to update the reading list for our fifth grade parent
daughter night. Does anyone have any suggestions for fiction books about
growing up, menstruation, sexuality, etc.
Many thanks.
