Here is the result of my inquiry about Baba Yaga stories with good
illustrations of the house with chicken legs:
There are fabulous chicken feet running pictures in a new book by Hiawyn
Oram called Baba Yaga and the Wise Doll, illustrated by Ruth Brown.

Try Matreshka by Becky Hickox Ayers. It is a Baba Yaga story that also
incorporates the little nesting dolls (Matreshkas). There is a great
illustration of the entire compound around Baba Yaga's house with
chicken feet and the fence surround made of human bones. The story reas
aloud very well too.

Baba Yaga : a Russian folktale / retold by Eric A. Kimmel ; illustrated
by
Megan Lloyd (New York : Holiday House, c1991)

Baba Yaga : a Russian folktale / retold and illustrated by Katya Arnold
(New
York : North-South Books, c1993)

I have a new book with illustrations by Kimmel, and an older edition
with
illustrations by Blair Lent.

Baba Yaga by Eric Kimmel.

I think it might be helpful to share Baba Yaga titles. I began to
collect
them this fall. Alice Nizzy Nazzy by tony Johnston is a western
variety.
The house is adobe on chicken legs. Baba Yaga by Eric A. Kimmel has
very
nice illustrations and shows her chicken-leg house. I also have
Babushka
Baba yaga by Patricia Polacco (but it is checked out right now so I
can't
look at the illustrations. I think that paul Brett Johnson has a new
Baba
yaga book out that I haven't purchased yet. It might be called Baba
yaga
and the wise doll. and yes there is Bony Legs.

Mary, I have two exquisite Baba Yaga's - one by Elizabeth Winthrop and
one by Marianna Mayer illus by Craft (which is in the style of /Russian
Lacquer boxes) . I was stunned recently to find another one for my
personal collection that is a 1950 Russian language Russian reprint of
an 1880's version! I show all three to 5th grade and they flip! We
campare the Baba Yaga's and costumes and skulls etc.... I like to read
the Mayer version the most....
