I had several requests for this information and decided to send to
entire listserv. Thanks to all who sent messages about what they are
doing at their schools about making teacher's e-mail addresses available
on the school web page.

We are currently working on a school web page that will
(hopefully) be
online soon. I asked each teacher for permission to list the
e-mail address.
Several felt very uncomfortable because they had received
harassing messages
on home e-mail addresses from their students. We will not
list any teacher
e-mail addresses. Only the webmaster and the principal's
addresses will be
listed.

We get permission and do the school address only. Many
of our teachers
also have email at home and we will place their home email
on the page
if requested.

Every staff member's school e-mail address is available
from
our webpage. I did not get individual permission, but my
principal said I should as it's another means of providing
communication to our parents and taxpayers.

To date we have not had a problem with anyone abusing
this
opportunity.
Oyr teachers write a mini autobiography for our webpage.
If they choose
to include an email address, they do. Some have a "public"
email address
(often a secondary AOL account, or a freebie like
hotmail.com or
yahoo.com) that they share with students, etc, and a private
address that
is only shared with family/friends/staff, etc. It is the teachers
decision whether or not to include their email address to be
posted.

Check out our page to see what I mean .

We won't put up teachers' personal email addresses on our
web page
without their permission. We will however put up their
individual school
email addresses. I would not recommend having all mail
forwarded to the
webmaster.

Our webmaster had each of us sign permission forms
before she put
our e-mail addresses on the web page.

All teacher and administrator names are on our web page.

We were requested to post our faculty's email addresses by
the
administration

At this time I ask permission before I put up the web
address of a staff person. I think this will change next year,
however, because it is a service provided by the school
district and therefore not really any different then staff phone
numbers in their classrooms. The biggest challenge will be
communicating with the public that not every staff person
that has an email actually uses it.

Our district provides every staff member with an e-mail
account and those
addresses are published on our web site. Many staff
members have
personal accounts, also; those e-mail addresses, like home
phone numbers,
are published only if the staff member requests it in writing.

Only those teachers who wish to have their email address
appear are linked.
Those who do not want it (which at this time is only one -
and she is having
ex-husband custody problems) are not linked.
\Reply to: RE: SUBJECT: WEB PERMISSIONS
We just recently "dealt" with this issue as we are getting the
web page
up and running for our new school, so I'm still not sure how
everything is
going to turn out, but . . . After discussing the issue with my
principal,
I notified staff members that we would be putting their
e-mail addresses
on the web page, giving them the option not to have their
address on the
page. Only two staff members (out of about 75) requested
that their e-mail
not be accessible through the web page. Of course, the
problem with this
is that by seeing one e-mail address in our district, anyone
of average
intelligence could figure out anybody else's address.
Not sure if this helps. I would be interested in seeing any
other
responses you get on this issue. Good luck.

No, we do not put teachers' email addresses on the
webpage. Anyone can access the general address for the
school and then the mail can be forwarded to the
teacher.
I think you are putting your teachers up for any and
all types of email by placing their addresses on the
web.

our e-mail address are self explanatory -
first initial, last name, @glassboro.k12.nj.us
for the whole district.

we don't reveal home e-mail but it is no secret what the
school addresses
are.

Now, we have a problem with people who don't read their
messages,
and people who don't have immediate access to their e-mail
because there is
no computer in their room.

Hope this helps you!

Just catching up on some of my mail. Our faculty's email addresses are
posted on our school's website
http://www.rcs.rang.k12.va.us/SCHOOLS/RCHS/Faculty/index.htm at this
time.
We had a meeting just this past Monday with the head of the system's
tech
office and there was some discussion of that policy since the system's
guidelines are so particular about things that go on webpages -
http://www.rcs.rang.k12.va.us/Documents/Guidelines.htm. Don't know what

they might decide in the future. Given the fact that right now they are

insisting that we request permission to link to every site we have on a
webpage, and that we "keep the number of links small" they may soon
insist
that we take this off.

The teachers would have to give their address to the webmaster
for that
page, so if they did not want to have it on the web they could just not
give it to her. However, the school system site also lists every
faculty
and staff members email address, if they have requested one from the
system, and they did not ask permission for that, just published the
email
address for everyone who has one. That list is not as up to date as the

one on the school's page, and does not include anyone who prefers to
keep
their email address "outside" our rang.k12.va.us setup.
