My principal gave this to me so I thought I'd share it with you. INTERNET vs LIBRARY Which is the better venue for research for today's college students, the Internet or the traditional library? To answer the question, two teams of student volunteers were assembled to answer the same set of ten questions. One team was assigned to a university library, the other to the Internet. While the Internet team worked faster, the library team was more accurate. Some of the findings from the experiment include: --Libraries are better organized than the Internet. Students often had to wade through irrelevant pages in the Internet, something that can be avoided in the library. --Internet information tended to be more current. --Not all Internet sites are created equal. --Primary sources are preferable to secondary sources. --Research materials are often only as good as the researcher. --The Internet is more distracting than the library. Original study conducted at The University of Dayton and reported in The Dayton Daily News by James Cummings, Saturday, March 20, 1999.
