I support the idea of not allowing a fight between members; I was on a list
that allowed just about anything and it can destroy the value of a list. I
do hope that Peter and members will continue to post information about what
she is saying. I think a lot of us don't follow her show and can get
blind-sided by this stuff. I was presenting a report on our new automation
software and a school board member wanted to know if it allowed access to
the ALA pornographic sites. Had I not been on this list, I would have been
really thrown for a loop. I realize that public library discussions etc.
shouldn't go on here, but I was really shocked to hear about the Internet
being used to harass librarians. I also think that is important for me to
know. The entire battle over the Internet, ALA, and filtering is very
important to school librarians. I need to know what is going on beyond my
little corner of the library world because it will affect me. But I do
support a cut off of personal ranting back and forth.
