Low-level reading for 11th graders

My 11th grade English teachers are very frustrated that their students can't
seem to read most of the literature that has been on their recommended lists
for several years.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions for high interest, lower level
novels that can be read in 11th grade English classes? Modern themes are
preferred.
