What in the world does this really mean anymore?  The term "right-wing" =
has
been thrown around so much that in my thinking, it means nothing.  It =
could
mean:

1. Staunchly conservative;
2. Narrow-minded;
3. Level-headed;
4. Out-of-touch with reality;
5. Back to basics.

Or it could be just a label that we use to characterize someone who =
does not
hold the same views as we do.  This entire article succeeded in =
"labeling"
librarians in a way that we obviously feel is unfair and condescending. =
 I
also know some not-so-conservative people who have no better idea what =
we do
than anybody else.

Please, please, let's avoid labeling at all costs.  Remember, it is a =
great
probability that there are a number of us in the profession that could =
be
characterized as right-wing (me for instance!).  And yet I agree that =
for us
to limit materials and access to certain materials that I find =
offensive is
not what we are to do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we are by the very nature of =
our
job, censors!  Until we can purchase every single book on every single =
topic
that is issued, we have no choice!  How do we decide what to purchase =
for
our collections?  Obviously, our beliefs and biases will come into play =
in
the decision-making process, whether conservative or liberal!
