A few days ago I asked for a World Languages Curriculum to help a new teacher at my school. All I got back were questions about what a World Languages teacher is! To clarify... The New Jersey Department of Ed has come up with a document called Core Curriculum Standards. One of these standards calls for World Languages (politically correct term for Foreign, I suppose...!!!) to be taught at the elementary level. Ideally, each grade would learn a smattering of a different language. We hired someone to teach the first graders Spanish, second graders French, and third graders German. The person quit before the school year started. Now we have hired one of our Basic Skills teachers to teach Spanish to all our students. One of her tasks is to write a curriculum. We both searched on the internet but had no luck. If you have a curriculum for teaching a language other than English please get in touch. Karen DeFrank. LMS Dorothy L.
