novels about "mature" love

What are titles of novels that are the stories of love that has survived,
marriages that have struggled and ultimately thrived?  (This is in
reaction to a discussion about Cold Mountain where the young lovers never
undergo the fires of living together.)

It's a curious quest and I appreciate all responses.
