I have become the sole director in charge of coordinating textbooks at our school and was wondering if anyone knows of any website that provides free downloading of MARC records for textbooks? I have seen some websites which have library materials but they did not hold textbook records. My problem is that I must download the MARC record for the print edition and then go back and add the information for the braille or large print descriptions for those materials that we have which are special formats. (Otherwise, I am doing original cataloging for all formats--print, braille, large print, recorded formats.) If anyone knows of such a "creature," my life would be much easier than it is right now....as you might imagine textbook depositories and libraries may appear to be very similar to the untrained eye (administration), but they are two different entities in many ways (which I will NEVER be able to explain to these people)! I'd appreciate any and all help in locating a resource for textbook MARC records. ...and thanks for always being there to listen to my problems! You guys are the only people on earth who understand the trials and tribulations of the library media specialist! It's like going through therapy when I can talk with you because you offer such wonderful advice and give such wonderful "pats on the back!" I appreciate each one of you for all you do to make the world a better place! Have a great weekend!
