Thanks to the many responses I received from my new friends at LM_NET. These two responses seemed to be as close to the source as I could get. Lorie Green Library Media Specialist Manor Hill Elementary Liberty, MO 64068 lgreen@mail.liberty.k12.mo.us Hi, I've had Aliki visit my schools 2 times and she is wonderful. You pronounce her name A-leak-ee. It's greek, she grew up in Philadelphia, her grandparents were from Greece. She uses her kids (who are now grown) for many of the children in her books. She live in London near Regents Park and is married to Franz Brandenberg. Her daughter, Alexa Brandenberg, has also begun illustrating. Hope you have fun book-talking her things. Meg Bradford Bogue Sound Elementary Newport, NC 28570 Answer to --How do you pronounce Aliki's name? I wrote to a friend who is a niece of Aliki and here is her answer: Aliki is pronounced Aah-Lee-Kee......accent on second sylable....the A is almost like the sound in obvious...quite short. not like Athens.
