I feel that I must add that their connectivity to PC computers is also =
extremely easy. In our building we connect them to both all the time. =
We just leave the cable hooked up to the computers and students may walk =
up, hook up, and format and etc. =20

Subject: Hit-Alphasmart keyboards

In the interest of brevity...I received over 50 replies to my question =
about
alphasmart
keyboards and macintosh computers. Every reply was favorable! Schools =
are
using them as traveling labs, in special ed and regular ed, as laptops =
for
notetaking by teachers during workshops, as check out computers for home =
use.
Everyone seems to like them and quite a few people said they wished =
they
could afford to buy more. The connectivity to the mac's and to printers =
was
described as easy to use. I did get a suggestion to check the web site =
and
see which printers are compatible. I also got favorable responses about
their keyboarding program called Keywords. One person did say that they =
felt
keyboarding practice was better on a computer because the kids could =
see the
entire screen at once and they were better positioned for correct =
posture
etc. than if using a portable keyboard. People said they required very
little service and/or maintenance and that they were fairly =
indestructible.
They liked the fact that they are light, easy to use, durable and have =
an
automatic off setting. The only conflicting replies were about the
batteries. Some were positive about using regular batteries and said =
they
lasted quite a while and a few others said they had to replace batteries
often and wish they had gone with the rechargeable ones. Thanks to all =
who
replied. You were a great help and we are going to purchase them. =
