My assistant of 7 years (3 years of my tenure) is leaving for a similar position in another school in our district. It's the same school that our former librarian moved to when I took over. The former librarian removed quite a few books (hundreds?) to take to her new school where she is principal/librarian. My assistant is taking 500 books with her (our total collection is 10,000). These books were all paid for and donated to our library by these folks, but are now 'following' them, being removed from our circulation and being used in the other district school. Is this a common practice? Is anyone else out there doing this or have you heard of anyone who is? We just feel that it will create quite a hole in our collection and may want to create a new policy for donated books. Thanks for your thoughts, comments, suggestions... chuck chuck finnigan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ library/technology Central Elementary School 601 Talcott St Sedro Woolley, WA 98284 cfinnigan@swsd.wednet.edu http://www.swsd.wednet.edu/ct/lr.htm =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
