As the newly crowned Grievance Chair for our bargining unit, I am researching contract language and strategies school districts employ in the areas of professional development and inservice credits. In NY state, these are two separate items, but I believe that language for one can probably be applied to the other. I am looking for examples of language that clearly defines how a workshop qualifies for these credits. Information on whether they must be taken outside the school day (or not), district vs teacher paying for the course/workshop, etc. are all important. How do the teachers identify areas they need to be inserviced, and how do they document that they learned something to use in class? If you are willing to share this type of information with me, please email, mail or FAX at the address below. If you would like a hit on LM_NET let me know.
