Hi, Folks -

I am planning some staff development sessions for my teachers to
introduce them to the information literacy standards and to explain how
we will be using these standards to integrate information skills into
their curriculum this year. In addition, I will be educating teachers
about our open access philosophy and the fact that we want students and
staff to feel welcome in the media center throughout the day.

I will begin with a brainstorming session among the teachers. They will
list things they might hear, see, or do in a library 25 years ago. To
add a bit of humor to my introduction of the newer library concept, I
would like to show a brief movie clip which depicts a scene from a
typical library setting about 20 or more years ago.

I know The Whole Library Handbook has a list of films which include
library scenes. However, I am not familiar with many of these films.
Right now I am leaning toward possibly showing a scene from The Music
Man since I am familiar with this film. I am looking in particular for a
something humorous with a stereotypical librarian and/or an outdated
library setting. Can anyone suggest other films I might look at to
determine what scene to show? Thanks.

Becky
