Hello everyone! I'm hoping you can help a teacher who came to me with possible plagerized work. Below is the story he wrote. I can't find anything about this in this library. Can anyone tell me if there is such a story? TIA A long time ago there were three animals named Lion, Cheetah, and Bear. One day Cheetah said, " I'm the fastest of you all." So, Lion and Bear raced him, but he won. So from that day on cheetahs have been the fastest animal alive. The very next day Bear said, "I could survive the longest without without eating any meat by just eating fruits." So they challenged him, but he could survive the longest. So from that day, bears have been able to find fruit and go without eating meat for the longest. Weeks went by, but Lion still wasn't the best at anything. The very next day, Lion said, "I bet I am the strongest of you all." Cheetah complained, "I'm not in any shape to fight." Then Bear said, "I'm all bones from eating fruit." So Lion said, "I'll give you both a week to shape up." So for the next week they all practiced for the big day to see who was the strongest. On the day of the fight, Lion told Cheetah that he would be the first to fight him. Cheetah stepped up and threw his paw at Lion, but Lion moved out of the way in the nick of time. Lion hit him with one hard whack. Cheetah was out cold. Bear stepped up and hit Lion a couple of times. Then Lion gave him a couple of good whacks and he was out cold, too. Lion said, "Now we know who is better at what." From that day on, lions have been the strongest. Then all the animals were at peace on who was better at what. The moral of this story is never give up until you reach your goal. -- Karen L. They are offering single-user version of their library automation software for no cost. There's no catch...they're making this offer so that small libraries can get started with automating their libraries. Of course, they hope that you will continue with Alexandria when and if you expand your system. You can import your Works database directly into the Alexandria program, which will then create MARC records from your data. If you want, you can also get full MARC records for your collection using Brodart's Precision One, a MARC record database, which contains over 1.5 million records. COMPanion sells this product, as well as software to connect directly with Alexandria. It can update the MARC information on your items, adding Sears/LC subject headings, summaries, etc. I operated with the Alexandria single-user version in my elementary school library for over a year, and it worked great...perfect for a small library. A patron catalog is included as well as fully functioning circulation, subscription, ordering, and cataloging modules. It's my understanding that this free offer is open to any library...full details can be found on COMPanion's web site, www.companioncorp.com. Or call them directly at 1-800-347-6439. Hope this helps! You may email me directly if you have questions.
