I have the same situation at J'aime at my school. However, the kids know
that if a class is scheduled (I have seating for 35) that they will have to
go to the cafeteria. I do require that the kids come in before the bell and
stay until the end (the wandering in and out drives me crazy) but once
they're there, I don't have a problem. I have puzzles and games (the ones
where youjump pegs, etc.) for them to use. They work on homework, read
magazines, or just stop by to talk with me. I enjoy it, the kids get what
they need done, and it looks really good to have a busy, bustling library
when the superintendent, school board members or others stop by.
