TECH: barcode wand software

Does anyone know of software that can be used with a barcode wand (attached
to a laptop) to use as a substitute for unhooking the Psion, Tricorder, etc.
from the keyboard of the circulation computer? I think it should be feasible
for inventory but don't know for sure. I would be "transferring"  the list of
scanned barcodes, i.e. of inventoried books, into CASPR's Library World.
