Mine just happened two months ago, and it was my own 15-year-old daughter
"who-done-it."

She took the book out of my library (A Tom Cusick PB) & took it to school to
read during study hall. Well, a fight broke out in the cafeteria, as she was
walking toward the door. The kids in the cafeteria turned into a mob and
rushed toward the fighters. My daughter was knocked down and trampled. The
book went flying out of her hand, skidded across the floor toward the fight.
The book was retrieved with several missing and torn pages, front cover
ripped, footprints, food stains, and some sort of brownish (probably cola)
liquid spilled on it. Then, her nose was bleeding, and she got blood on it
to top it off.

Yes, I paid for it.

And yes, I have just moved into a new school district.
