I have gained an agreement to take my new Year 7 students (7 classes) for 1 class per week for 18 weeks and teach Information skills. I have tried to integrate this with classroom lessons for the past 4 years but many teachers will not bring their classes to the library " because they cannot control them there" Now the Principal has agreed to make it mandatory and each Key Learning Area will lose 2 lessons over the first semester giving me18 lessons per class between Feb and July. I have plenty of activities involving cd-rom and Internet but as they can only involve about half a class at a time and will need my attention, I am looking for activities involving books that the classroom teacher can supervise (ie not be too demanding of them). WhileI have some ideas, I am hoping I can gain some more from list members. Perhaps there is a book of lessons somebody can recommend.
