I, too, am a librarian in a rural district. These tales are daily events. I
currently have one Star Wars book in a school freezer to solidify the gum
inside and a well-chewed Marvin Redpost book (again, new) on my desk. I have
thrown out several other dog chewed books.
I was told that someone's book got thrown out by mom. Barcodes are regularly
picked off and destroyed.
I guess my beef about this is that I don't get the money if someone pays for
a book. It has to go into the district general fund. I then have to re-order
from my yearly budget. How do other schools handle replacement money?
