Janet, This won't really help, but I do understand...I run the Technology Center at the school and every year we face the same problem--It is compounded by the fact that we are year round...we close June 30 and reopen for the new year July 5th--and we do not have access to our rooms during those five days.... I have, however, learned from nine years' experience that I HAVE to: 1-print out a notice a FULL month ahead of the dates I will be closed and give them to all the staff. (and I remind them all the weeks before...) 2-NOT make an exception...if you say you are going to be closed, you HAVE to stay closed. 3-develop a thick skin and let comments roll off my back...You see, a great many teachers like to use library/computer time to grade papers, etc...prep time, I guess...So, my/your closing means less time for them to do as they wish. Understanding that, I/you need to be aware of their perception of your job, and ignore the comments. 4- make an appointment with the administration yourself....since when is one employee's "request" more valid than another's?...state your side... Jane ;-) The Read In! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
