Dear folks, Our fourth grade teachers would like to have recommendations on a good novel for incoming 4th graders to read in the summer before they start school. However, given that many of them read on drastically different levels, we are not only looking for a specific title but also for an author of such a title who ALSO has a body of work that: 1) spans a range of reading levels (especially on the lower end), maturity of themes, etc. and 2) is easily accessed at public libraries, bookstores, etc. That way students will be able to find a book on their level by an author that all the students are reading. I have searched the archives and All Together Now as well as checking some author lists to jog my memory, and came up with the following list of "possibles." Please send me your comments about these authors and any suggestions for someone I may have overlooked. Roald Dahl Barbara Park Judy Blume Eve Bunting Beverly Cleary Sid Fleischman Betsy Byars Jane Yolen Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Thanks so much for your time!
