Hi colleagues, My principal asked me to set up a form for teachers requesting library time for research projects to complete before they come and also possibly use for evaluation. Some of my thoughts were to include: An essential question- what is it you want students to learn? What resources are needed? How long in library? When is assignment due? What is the final product? Are resources needed in the classroom after library time, how long, which ones? If anyone has ever set something like this up, I would appreciate you input. Its great to be able to ask a world of experience experts. Barbara Sottilaro Library Media Specialist Mauger Middle School Middlesex, NJ mauger@aol.com P. S. Enjoyed the responses about limiting books. We're getting 4th graders next year and it should be interesting. Basically its the teachers that assist. Most insist the students run it by them first. We put red dots on those with reading levels below 5th grade, but you still have to use your own judgement. Sometimes I flag them and suggest they wait until they are older. In the beginning of the year, I tell students to exhange anything they don't feel comfortable with. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
