Microsoft now makes a great new optical mouse I highly recommned. It has no ball, just an LED on the bottom. It is smooth as silk and never appears to need cleaning. It always has that "new mouse" feel. I don't even need mouse pads anymore. They can be used in windows or the new Macintoshs with a USB port and they include an adapter for Windows bus use. You are out of luck if you need an older serial mouse or ADB mouse. I pay $30/each for tham from my wholesaler, but I think they are worth it. They include the wheel on top which I really like for machines surfing the web. They also come with a five year warrranty. That alone is impressive.
