your recommendations for software

We are in the process of selecting software for a learning disabled
student.  He is 14 years old and is developmentally delayed across the
board.  While he has a few sight reading words, he is unable to decode
words and is basically a non reader.  He does, very much, want to
communicate, with others!
Any information/recommendations/feedback on the listed software for this
student would be very much appreciated.
And, any other software recommendations would also be valued!
