TECH: Opening jpg attachments

I am on a PC Windows 98 and I use Yahoo as well as
Outlook Express for email.  With my Outlook, when I
receive a jpg attachment I am unable to click on it
and open it.  I can download it to desktop and use
Imaging and open it but I cannot just click on it an
open it.  Does anyone know what I need to reset to
allow me to just click and open it?  When I try to
click on it this causes the Media Player to come up
and give me the message that MMSystem 348 cannot open
the file.  I have other other software on my computer
that should allow me to view these files but I do not
know how to set one so that it just opens from the
email program.
